Doch die Psychologin Dr. Auch bei der optischen Umsetzung versucht der Filmemacher, alle Register ziehen, um ein Maximum an Realismus zu erzeugen. Egal ob fake oder nicht fake.

Very convenient for the producers when the real-life camera footage would go awry and distort every time some other-worldly experience had been 'shown'.

Great entertainment , but not to be taken seriously. I still have fears of owls now after this and can't sleep alone anymore. I am unmoved by alien films from seeing so many but this one is 1 scariest alien movie I have seen.

Gives me chills thinking about it right now.. Since so many 'compare' this to the Blair Witch I must mention the Blair Witch I first saw on IFC many years ago and it WAS portrayed as real, so much so I started looking up everything I could about it only to find out a year or so later that it was all phony.

IFC didn't show the whole movie by the way, it showed Anyway, this movie The Fourth Kind I had also heard about before it actually came out, again I looked into it.

It's still a good movie if you're into life on other planets or at least the possibility there is and also can admit many questions of facts and evidence remain unanswered for one reason or another.

I am so I liked the movie. Granted the "real" footage was easy to tell wasn't real. But, if you have any doubts that life on other planets does not exist this movie will make you think.

Remember people it's Hollywood. Even the realest of stories will be distorted to some degree. Hollywood doesn't give all 'real', some parts are added and some are taken away.

For a population of people, Nome evidently has an abundance of shrinks. Not sure where this movie was actually filmed, but it was certainly not within several thousand miles of Nome.

Nome is barren tundra on the Bering seacoast, and you won't find a tree over 6' tall within several hundred miles. Convenient how all "documentary evidence" is static and blurred to the point of establishing nothing at all.

Not sure why Hollywood males a big deal of "true stories", when they are obviously complete fabrications. Ignoring the obvious is not effective filmmaking.

Story is average. The suspenseful buildup is disappointing. Milla Jovovich is the only redeeming component. Very well acted with superb editing between the original footage and the movie.

Very disturbing, unnerving, frightening. Will make you question you beliefs. Highly recommended but definitely not for a younger audience This has to be one of the worst movies ever made, real or fiction!

The acting was horrendous and I would be embarrassed to be affiliated with such nonsense! She wakes up in a hospital after breaking her neck in the abduction.

There, August reveals that Will had actually committed suicide, showing that Abbey's belief that he was murdered was merely a delusion.

Later it is shown that Abbey is paralyzed in a wheelchair, presumably due to her neck injury. The film then returns to the present interview, where the Interviewer asks Abbey how they, he and the viewers, can believe her if most of what she thought was only in her mind.

Abbey tearfully tells him that she has to believe that Ashley is still alive. The interviewer ends the interview as Abbey breaks down in tears.

In the film's epilogue, it states that Abbey was cleared of all charges against her, leaves Alaska for the East Coast, and deteriorates to the point of being completely bed-bound and requiring constant care.

Campos remains a psychologist and Odusami becomes a professor at a Canadian university. Both men, as well as August, refuse to be involved with the interview, while Abbey's son Ronnie remains estranged from Abbey and still blames her for Ashley's disappearance.

It also states that Ashley was never found. However, as is repeatedly stated in the movie: "In the end, what you believe is yours to decide".

It also uses supposedly "never-before-seen archival footage" that is integrated into the film. To promote the film, Universal Pictures created a website with fake news stories supposedly taken from real Alaska newspapers, including the Nome Nugget and the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

The Fourth Kind received mainly negative reviews from critics, many of whom were offended that the film attempted to use the real life tragedies of missing and deceased Nome citizens in order to make money using a fictitious story about alien abduction.

The site's consensus reads "While it boasts a handful of shocks, The Fourth Kind is hokey and clumsy and makes its close encounters seem eerily mundane.

Owen Gleiberman of Entertainment Weekly called the film "rote and listless. According to Michels, "people need to realize that this is a science fiction thriller".

Michels also compared the film to The Blair Witch Project , saying, "we're just hoping the message gets out that this is supposed to be for entertainment.

Modern-day, Alaska, where-mysteriously since the s-a disproportionate number of the population has been reported missing every year.

Despite multiple FBI investigations of the region, the truth has never been discovered. Here in this remote region, psychologist Dr.

Abigail Tyler began videotaping sessions with traumatized patients and unwittingly discovered some of the most disturbing evidence of alien abduction ever documented.

The Fourth Kind exposes the terrified revelations of multiple witnesses. Their accounts of being visited by alien figures all share disturbingly identical details, the validity of which is investigated throughout the film.

The acting was horrendous and I would be embarrassed to be affiliated with such nonsense! I have an open mind, but this would make me lean towards non-belief, especially if it were true!

You could not distinguish whether it was more about aliens or satanic spirits! Just totally inane!! Wasn't even entertaining!!

Whether it was true or not, none of the supposed evidence was even close to credible or believable!

This was a decent film that managed to hold my attention to the end. Although I did find the whole Premise of the film puzzling.

This is where they insist this based on a true story, but re-enacted by actors. Then they use a split screen showing the real people the actors are playing.

Milla Jovivich was pretty decent, so that kept me focused. And so was the actor who played the cop. Creepy in parts maybe, but a tad suspenseful.

Leaves too many questions in the end. This movie does a really weird thing where it split-screens between Jovovich and the other actors and supposedly "real" footage of similar things happening with "real" people.

Campos and Odusami videotape the session, and once hypnotized, it is revealed that Abbey witnessed the abduction of her daughter and also shows scenes of her own abduction, showing part of the abductors ship and it is hinted that they possibly took some human egg cells from Abbey as well.

The camera scrambles, and Abbey begs the alien that abducted Ashley to return her. The creature replies, saying that Ashley will never be returned.

It then calls itself the savior, then the father and finally ends with "I am When the encounter ends, Campos and Odusami rush over to the now unconscious Abbey and then notice something out of camera's view.

The camera scrambles again, and a volatile voice yells "Zimabu Eter! When the camera view clears it shows that all three of them are gone.

The film cuts to an interview with Abbey in which she explains that all three were abducted during that hypnosis session and no one has any memory of what happened.

The film returns to the aftermath of Abbey's hypnosis session.
